One of the reasons that I think I'd prefer not to be using a bit. At least you would be less likely to use the bit to train piaffe :-(
Can I just ask that we don't mention who this person is or do a big knife job on her, she's not the only one doing this stuff (although you wouldn't think she would from her publicity) so try and keep it polite.
That's polite Kate, at least compared with what I thought when I saw it. I don't believe though in ripping folks to shreds when they can't respond but I can imagine that you and I are thinking the same thing ;-)
Interesting vid; not really a pretty sight just from the rider point of view. My question is who is the trainer?? I have always been under the impression that a swishing tail is a resistant horse. This tail is swishing an awful lot! I know we do better piaffe - at least on our hacks we certainly do - especially on garbage (rubbish) day.
Well having trained twelve horses to GP I don't feel in the same league as her but I still don't like it. HofC yes it is the hand but the bit is in the mouth, probably the most sensitive part of the horse and the hand (because we are human) will make mistakes. Even the most balanced rider can.

Ouch.
Yuck! That's not polite, but it's what I think!

I'd like to drag her off the horse.
I don't know who it is, but she's ripping the horse to shreds and he can't respond.
agreeing with everyone else of course - quite apart from her need to sit up straight and put a hat on!
but, of course, you wouldn't ride like that anyway!

Sheila (in rainy Milton Keynes - yippeee)
A picture says more than 100 words?
Being polite, we do not comment.
But Trudi, re your conclusion - it's the hand holding on to the bit surely, and not the bit itself?

Yes Trudi, can't disagree on that.
